I finally got my hydrangeas....as tiny as they are....but a great price too!!! I decided to help make my garden more less fuss...so the shady raised bed in the corner I am planting these....with the heucheras still in front for yearround color....I have been talked into a viburnum in the back....I'll keep you posted and see how it all turns out after this winter!!
That is a beautiful hydrangea - the flowers look more like lilac

ReplyDeleteI just rescued your comment with the question about the sea kale from my "Pending" folder. (Sorry about that--I've had issues with spammers, so I don't know what else to do besides moderating comments on posts older than 1 week.) I would say that my sea kale gets about 5 hours of sun, during the second half of the day. It's on the western side of my house, bakes brutally in the afternoon sun (partly because it's surrounded by driveway, street, etc.) and must really like my sandy soil because it self-sows freely. It's extremely drought tolerant, and its only problem is an occasional plague of cabbage whites--but they really like the broccoli and cabbage in the veggie garden much more than my ornamental sea kale. (I'm not sure whether I'm happy about that or not! lol.)
If you want to try it in a shadier area, I would suggest finding some seed. It should be pretty easy to start that way, since it self-sows in my yard. :)
